Round Summary, January/15-23/11.

In a couple of great games of cricket there was not a lot of joy for the club this round. Our Barclay team almost pulled off a great win against Camrea. Defending 150 runs, the Panthers had Camrea on the ropes @ 9/148, but unfortunately didn’t get the points. Great bowling performances all round . . . → Read More: Round Summary, January/15-23/11.

Round Summary 4/5

Round 4 for a/b grades or round 5 for d/f grades, I don’t know, it is all too confusing for me.

From the top, Barclay shield (round 4): Eltham won the toss and elected to bat against Lalor Stars, in a one day 40/40 match at home. Eltham knocked up a respectable total of 9/188. Skips made 94, Davo 25, Cam Lea 19 and Nick Turner 17.

In reply, Lalor made 8/191, but they did not make the total easily, in fact  it went down to the third last ball of the match. Greg Wilson was probably the best of the bowlers with 4/42 off 9.3. I believe the Eltham fielding, particularly catching, let the side down. Some positive signs never the less. Round 1 Summary

The season finally got off to a start on the weekend, with a mixed bag of results for the Panthers.
In Barclay, Riverside, with two of their batsmen posting tons, set Eltham a target of 3/264 (off 40 overs). Cam Lea (2/47 off 7) and Greg Wilson (1/62 off 10) were the only wicket takers for Eltham.
The Panthers put up a respectable run chase with eight batsmen getting into double figures. To quote my source “too many guys threw their wickets away” and unfortunately the Panthers came up 49 runs short after 40 overs. Continue reading Round 1 Summary
